Frankfurt, New York On the New York Stock Exchange, the leading index Dow Jones reached a new record high on Wednesday. The index rose 0.6 percent to 35,670 points. The previous record was 35,631 points.
The broader S&P 500 was also only a few points below its previous high with an increase of 0.4 percent to 4540 points. The Nasdaq tech index remained unchanged at 15,137 points.
The courses received support from encouraging quarterly figures such as the mobile phone giant Verizon. The T-Mobile US rival profited from an influx of contract customers in the third quarter and raised its annual forecasts. The share gained 2.4 percent.
The previous accounting season provided light and shadow, said analyst Danni Hewson from brokerage house AJ Bell. Examples of this are the business figures of the consumer goods manufacturer Procter & Gamble and the cigarette manufacturer Philip Morris.
