Frankfurt Encouraging corporate results are luring some investors back to Wall Street. The US standard value index Dow Jones closed 0.2 percent higher on Wednesday at 33,301 points. The tech-heavy Nasdaq was little changed at 12,488 points. The broad S&P 500 gained 0.2 percent to 4183 points. On Tuesday, the three had slipped by up to four percent.
Investors were encouraged by the quarterly results from Microsoft and Visa. “Microsoft’s numbers are signaling pretty good demand and a pretty positive outlook,” said investment strategist Ryan Detrick of asset manager LPL. “As volatile as the stock market is right now, we continue to view the likelihood of a recession this year as very remote.”
