new York Weak quarterly figures for heavyweights from the tech industry also weighed on the US stock exchanges on Thursday. This time, the results of the Facebook parent Meta depressed the mood.
The Nasdaq index fell another 1.6 percent to 10,792 points after closing in the red on Wednesday as a result of profit declines at Microsoft and Google parent Alphabet. Meta shares themselves lost almost a quarter of their value on Thursday and other industry giants such as Amazon and Apple also lost. The broad S&P 500 index lost 0.6 percent to 3807 points, the Dow Jones index of standard values added 0.6 percent.
