Frankfurt, Cologne In the multi-billion dollar VW investor trial, the Braunschweig Higher Regional Court decided to enter the hearing of evidence. The court announced on Friday that 86 witnesses and a large number of documents, which had to be submitted by those involved or requested by third parties, were intended to provide information about the processes that took place before the diesel scandal became known almost eight years ago.

The decision includes 85 questions of evidence. These relate primarily to the conflicting allegations of the parties involved, to the knowledge of the members of the Board of Management or other ad hoc officers at Volkswagen AG, that the illegal defeat device was installed before mid-2015. The hearing of evidence is scheduled to begin in September.

The court did not name the witnesses in its press release. In May, the 3rd civil senate had already announced that it wanted to question members of the former group board.
