Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin in a recent interview with Sumiko Tan, editor-in-chief of The Straits Times, cryptocurrency asked its market users to invest in “simpler things”.

Vitalik Buterin: “Go For The Simpler Things”

The Canadian software developer urged cryptocurrency investors not to rely on “individual talents”.

Buterin claimed that he does not follow the Ethereum price very closely. Buterin stated that he does not speculate in cryptocurrencies as he prefers to “buy and hold these assets for later”.

When Buterin was asked if he was worried about Ethereum being used for potentially malicious purposes, the Canadian software developer said that there had been multiple decentralized finance (DeFi) attacks. At the same time, he praised the Ethereum community for being good at supporting the good stuff and opposing the bad stuff.

According to Buterin, one of the main problems with the Bitcoin community is that its members “automatically” love everyone rich and powerful who supports the Bitcoin community.

He recalled that many Bitcoiners began to admire El Salvadoran leader Nayib Bukele simply because of his government’s implementation of crypto.

Vitalik Buterin stated that he could not get used to being praised so much in the cryptocurrency community, adding that he did not agree with some of the definitions made about himself:

“I think everyone reflects a part of themselves on me. And this is very strange. Sometimes I see a description of myself and I cannot reconcile myself with it in any way.”

In the same interview, Vitalik Buterin also criticized Singapore and argued that this country cannot adopt Blockchain technology without cryptocurrencies.
