Verdi boss fears greater staff shortage if vaccinations are required in the healthcare system – researcher Priesemann criticizes 2G as not sufficient

With a view to 3G at work, the German Trade Union Federation (DGB) has called for nationwide regulations for employees and employers. “Of course, we are of the opinion that if there are regulations that include 3G, which actually have to be used nationwide,” said DGB’s social policy expert, Markus Hofmann, on Monday in an expert hearing in the Bundestag on the plans by SPD, Greens and FDP to amend the Infection Protection Act. “What is not possible is that we find a patchwork of measures.” Both employees and employers must be clear what actually needs to be done.

According to Roland Wolf, labor law expert at the employers’ association BDA, it must also be ensured that the tests carried out on unvaccinated persons at the access to companies do not lead to traffic jams and problems. It is questionable whether it makes sense to carry out tests for employees without proof of vaccination or recovery to the day for the entire workforce. Wolf referred in this context to Austria, where employers only checked on a random basis. “In large production companies in particular, you have to consider whether that might not be a sensible solution,” said Wolf.
