Uwe Hochschützz is promoted at Stellantis

Opel boss Uwe Hochschurtz

The car manager is to hold a new position at Stellantis.

Munich Opel gets a new boss after less than a year. Florian Huettl replaces Uwe Hochgeschurtz, who will be responsible for the expanded European business in the future, the parent company Stellantis announced on Wednesday. Huettl has been working for Stellantis since March 2021, most recently as head of sales at Opel. He had gained international experience in the automotive industry over the past 20 years, including in Great Britain, Germany and Russia.

Meanwhile, Hochschurtz has moved up the ranks and will be operationally responsible for the expanded European business at Stellantis. He only took over the top position at Opel in September 2021. Previously, Hochschurtz had worked as head of Germany at Opel’s French rival Renault, and before that in marketing for commercial vehicles at Volkswagen and Ford.

The change in leadership at Opel is part of a larger reorganization at Stellantis entitled “Dare Forward 2030”. Hochschurtz’s predecessor, Maxime Picat, will take over the post of Purchasing Manager from Michelle Wen, who wants to promote personal projects in the future. Picat have demonstrated strategic foresight. This will help reduce the cost of electric cars by 40 percent.
