According to Bloomberg, the USA has ruled that a court in Montenegro terra (Terraform Labs) is preparing to appeal the decision to extradite its co-founder Do Kwon to South Korea.
On Thursday, Kwon’s lawyer, Goran Rodic, wrote in a message to CoinDesk that the Montenegrin court Do KwonHe said that he decided to extradite him to South Korea after March 23, but did not specify whether he would appeal.
According to Bloomberg, in the statement made yesterday by the Ministry of Justice, “The United States continues to request Kwon’s extradition in accordance with relevant international and bilateral agreements and Montenegrin law.” “The United States appreciates the cooperation of Montenegrin authorities in ensuring that all individuals are subject to the rule of law.”
The United States and Kwon’s country, South Korea, continue the court process for Kwon’s extradition.
Global authorities, including Interpol, have had their eye on Kwon since Terra collapsed in mid-2022. Terra’s collapse destroyed billions of dollars of investor funds, and Kwon fled to Montenegro, where he was arrested for possession of forged official documents. Courts in Montenegro are deciding where to extradite Kwon.
The U.S. Department of Justice did not immediately respond to CoinDesk’s request for comment.
