US House Unanimously Passes Pro-Blockchain Bill

The cryptocurrency and blockchain industry has scored another, albeit small, victory in the US House of Representatives.

The panel in the House of Representatives unanimously approved the Deploying American Blockchains Act, a brief 13-page bill.

The U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee voted 46-0 to approve legislation urging the U.S. Department of Commerce to “increase the competitiveness of the United States with respect to the deployment, use, and application of blockchain technology or a different distributed ledger technology.”

US lawmakers have been criticized for not doing enough to regulate cryptocurrencies and bring clarity to the industry. Brian Armstrong, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, “Unlike 83% of other countries in the G20, we do not have clear rules written in the book.” he said.
