“Unethical” Crypto Practices Warning From Edward Snowden!

Edward Snowdennoted that the use of non-tradable tokens (NFTs) in crypto games poses certain problems.

In a recent interview with Parachains, a YouTube channel focused on Polkadot and Kusama, Snowden explained that he is against monetizing gaming platforms that use NFT because they use a “fake scarcity” sense.

“Of course not everyone tries it, but there are some who do, but the end result of what they do is they add an artificial ‘sense of scarcity’ to a ‘post-scarcity’ space. I think it’s actually an inherently “anti-social” impulse.”

Having worked with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Snowden said players looking for a virtual escape could potentially NFT says that it can be put at a disadvantage from the game-based business model.

“If you think about the world where people are drawn to their game and live in a cold and bare box, or even if they are lucky enough to own a house in an overpriced city where they spend all their time working, they have to go home tired.

They cook their cheap food and then they turn on their devices to escape all this and then they build a beautiful house in their digital world where they are on a beautiful island, they want to change the color of the wall and you only have to pay $19.99 for the wall. This is horrible, disgusting and traffic to me.”

Snowden’s commentary on gaming altcoins and crypto-based metaverse came after its base grew exponentially. According to Snowden, the crypto industry is at risk of facilitating unethical practices.

According to Snowden, the community must now stop inoculating unnecessary famine in these areas and allow it to function normally. Reminding that one of the most important promises of crypto technologies is to save people from material limits, Snowden emphasized that it is unethical to try to reinstate the same style in an intangible space.
