Unemployment in the UK falls surprisingly

London Unemployment in the UK continues to fall despite numerous economic strains. In the three months to August, the unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent, the statistics office ONS announced on Tuesday in London.

This is the lowest rate since February 1974. Analysts had expected a stable rate of 3.6 percent.

According to the statistics office, the unemployment rate was one percentage point lower than before the outbreak of the corona pandemic. The employment rate was 75.5 percent in the three-month period ended August.

Wages and salaries continue to rise significantly at six percent, as the statistics office further announced. However, there is also comparatively high inflation in Great Britain, with an inflation rate of just under ten percent recently.
