Nobody knows exactly how energy policy will continue. However, some questions can be answered.

  • As a result of Vladimir Putin’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the traffic light coalition has had to change course on energy policy. Security of supply is suddenly just as urgent as climate protection.
  • The situation is also forcing consumers to reconsider their energy consumption: there are new arguments for electric cars or heat pumps.
  • People are dramatically feeling the rising prices for electricity, oil and gas.

A year ago nobody would have thought it possible that diesel would be more expensive than premium petrol at Germany’s petrol stations. Or the electricity bill triples. And the gas: anyone who heats their average terraced house with it currently pays a little more than 2,000 euros per year. A year ago it was 1100 euros – makes plus 86 percent.
