Munich, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf Short-time work, idle assembly lines, canceled shifts: Because important components from the Ukraine are missing, many car manufacturers have to drastically cut back their production. The situation is critical. Parts of the supply chain have long been torn as a result of the Russian war of aggression. Above all, there is a lack of wiring harnesses.
The Nuremberg wiring system provider Leoni, which is active at two locations in the Ukraine, warned its shareholders on Monday of shrinking sales and profits. In order to compensate for shortfalls, the Group’s Executive Board is also examining the “possibility of duplicating production volumes”. Leoni’s competitors have also started to relocate production.
