In order not to lag behind the developing blockchain technology, new steps continue to be taken in many areas.
French game developer firm Ubisoft said in its second-quarter earnings call that it has game-making projects involving blockchain technologies.
Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, one of the largest video game companies in the world, gave information about the company’s blockchain game plans.
The CEO stated that he has also partnered with some game companies, chief among them the Blockchain-based game company Animoca Brands.
CEO Guillemot stated that Animoca Brands will contribute to the financing of Ethereum-based metaverse game The Sandbox, but the platform is in the research and development phase. SAND, the token of The Sandbox game, is trading at $1.06 as of our news time.
Frédérick Duguet, CFO of Ubisoft, who is behind many key games, continued, saying that Ubisoft’s partnerships with blockchain companies like Animoca helped prepare for the next step:
“Blockchain will help more players gain content, have their own content. We think it will provide more win-wins and this will grow the industry considerably.
We work with many small companies using blockchain. We are starting to have a good knowledge of how this could impact the industry and we want to be one of the key players here.”
French game company Ubisoft, which has achieved many successes, reported a 15% increase in revenue in the first half of 2021 compared to 2020.
