Twitter Activates Tips With Bitcoin

Twitter, one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, announced today that it will introduce the feature of tipping Twitter with Bitcoin (BTC) to include iOS users in the first stage.

Twitter, one of the most popular social media applications in the world, has been trying to make more “content producer”-oriented updates like other social media platforms that have been competing for a while. With these updates, it is aimed that content producers will earn more income and make their sharing more sustainable. In line with these goals, Twitter announced today that it has started testing the tip feature with Bitcoin (BTC) to include iOS users in the first stage.

Twitter started testing the tip feature in May 2021 and continued to make improvements to this feature. Twitter’s tip feature is currently supported by the Lightning Network, which uses the “layer 2” payment protocol, which allows creating micropayment channels. With the announcement it made today, Twitter made it possible for users to donate by paying Bitcoin (BTC) with the Strika API integration. Although this feature is being tested on the iOS platform at the first stage, it is considered that it will come to Android devices in the future.

By making use of this API, Twitter has the infrastructure that will enable users to verify the NFT avatars they have purchased and use them in the profile. Currently, this feature is not open to the public and is available to a very limited audience. Let’s see how this move of Twitter will find a response in the world of Bitcoin (BTC) and NFT. Do you think this move will positively affect the value of BTC?
