TURKSTAT Announces June YD-PPI Data: Inflation Continued Its Uptrend

Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the Domestic Producer Price Index (YD-PPI) data for June. Accordingly, YD-PPI increased by 15.62 percent on a monthly basis in June. Compared to December of the previous year, an increase of 26.29 percent, an increase of 39.92 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and 61.58 percent according to the twelve-month averages were recorded.

Looking at the annual change in the two sectors of the industry, there was an increase of 33.47 percent in mining and quarrying, and an increase of 40.03 percent in manufacturing.

According to the annual change in the main industrial groups, an increase of 37.1 percent in intermediate goods, 45.02 percent in durable goods, 45.04 percent in non-durable goods and 48.82 percent in capital goods, while a decrease of 12.17 percent was observed in energy.

The monthly changes in the two sectors of the industry were calculated as 13.7 percent increase in mining and quarrying and 15.65 percent increase in manufacturing.

According to the monthly changes of the main industrial groups, 14.72 percent in intermediate goods, 13.33 percent in durable consumer goods, 14.46 percent in non-durable consumer goods and energy. 27.15 percent and capital goods increased by 16.11 percent.

The only sub-sector that showed a decrease according to YD-PPI was coke and refined petroleum products with 12.17 percent. On the other hand, computers and electronic and optical products were recorded as the sub-sectors where the indexes increased the most with 60.62 percent, information management system machinery and equipment with 59.14 percent, and beverages with 59.14 percent.

On a monthly basis, wood and cork products (excluding furniture) with 10.94 percent, other manufactured goods with 11.26 percent, and printing and recording services with 11.51 percent were calculated as the sub-sectors where the indexes increased the least. On the other hand, coke and refined petroleum products stood out with 27.15 percent, computers and electronic and optical products by 20.41 percent, and other transportation vehicles by 17.23 percent, as the sub-sectors where the indexes increased the most.
