Türkiye enters a new era with Copilot M365

Many press members met with Microsoft Turkey executives at the event titled “The New Era of Artificial Intelligence with Microsoft Copilot Technologies” organized by Microsoft Turkey at Kolektif House.

Emphasizing in his opening speech that artificial intelligence is the biggest breakthrough in the technology world since the invention of the internet, Microsoft Turkey General Manager Levent Özbilgin stated that Microsoft invests 27 billion dollars in R&D annually in artificial intelligence-based technologies.

Pointing out that the most important point they attach importance to in artificial intelligence is trust and responsibility, Özbilgin said:

“First of all, the relationship between artificial intelligence and the cloud needs to be understood. What we call cloud is actually a planet-wide supercomputer. The company with the largest cloud computing capacity in the world is Microsoft. Artificial intelligence can do what it can today thanks to the scale of cloud computing.

The number of parameters calculated in real time by large language models, which we call LLM (Large Language Models), has exceeded trillions. Since this capacity is only available on the cloud, it is not possible to think of a cloud-free artificial intelligence capability.

There is also the responsibility aspect of the job, which we take very seriously. We have to explain what we do with the data processed by artificial intelligence and be held accountable in a transparent manner. A team of 350 people at Microsoft works exclusively on responsible artificial intelligence & ethical artificial intelligence, which we call responsible AI.

We are happy that the head of this team is Ece Kamar, a Turk. “They are working sensitively on issues such as the regulation of artificial intelligence, development principles and filtering of outputs.”

Making a presentation titled “A New Future with Copilot”, Microsoft Turkey Deputy General Manager of Customer Experience Cavit Yantaç talked about the processes that bring artificial intelligence to its current potential and the collaboration between Microsoft and OpenAI and said:

“OpenAI was founded in 2015, but in 2019, when they said ‘we need a very powerful cloud operating system’, they collaborated with Microsoft and started working on new language models on Azure. This is how the foundations of ChatGPT were laid.

We integrate ChatGPT technology, which reached 100 million users in 3 months, into all Microsoft programs under the name Copilot, allowing you to use it as your personal artificial intelligence assistant. Need to prepare a presentation quickly?

You tell Copilot what kind of presentation you need and it prepares it. If you say the text is nice but the visual doesn’t suit you, it adds animation for you; If you say you want it in text-to-speech format, it does that too.

In addition, we offer our customers the opportunity to create their own copilots. Setur, which created a travel chatbot with Copilot, is a very successful example of this. Today, a person who wants to have a holiday in Antalya can plan his dream holiday by asking all the questions he has to Setur’s travel chatbot.”

Adding that the intellectual property of all outputs obtained through Copilot belongs to the user, Yantaç stated that in case of any copyright problem, Microsoft steps in and takes responsibility.

At the event, Microsoft Technology Center Technical Solution Architect Mustafa Aşıroğlu and Microsoft Turkey Productivity Solution Sales Specialist Merve Deniz gave a demo presentation titled “Microsoft 365 Copilot with Applied Examples” and said:

“More than 90 percent of users state that thanks to Copilot, they can save time and focus on high value-added work.”

Mustafa Aşıroğlu shared examples that highlight how working life has become easier with Copilot. Aşıroğlu said that all these services are available for individual use free of charge via Microsoft search engine Bing and added:

“Copilot highlights important e-mails for you in Outlook, summarizes them, and when you need to reply, you can command: ‘Look at this Excel file, write a reply to this e-mail on my behalf, adding possible sales forecasts.’

On the other hand, if you are going to send this e-mail to your own team, for example, you can individualize the output by asking it to be written in a more friendly language. If you are late for an online meeting, you can find out who spoke about what before you.”

With Copilot, chores are eliminated; productivity increases

In the Customer Experience Panel, where Arçelik and Enerjisa Üretim, which are among the first 600 companies to experience Copilot globally, were hosted, the Copilot integration processes and experiences of the brands were touched upon.

Enerjisa Üretim Digital Business Technologies Leader Berkay Kurtaran stated that Enerjisa Üretim has already received high efficiency from Copilot because it actively uses Microsoft 365 programs and said:

“With Copilot, the way applications such as Word and PowerPoint are used has changed a lot. We achieved serious productivity; Everyone at work started sharing their experiences with each other and we reached the maturity level in 6 months. Since we worked on Copilot with our own data, we eliminated the hallucination problem, and this was our biggest gain.”

Stating that they have an ambitious goal to be the company that uses artificial intelligence best in their industry, Arçelik Information Technologies Director Yekta Caymaz said:

“We started to save time with Copilot. It increases efficiency and allows focus on high value-added work. As a company with more than 40 thousand employees worldwide, we aim to be one of the companies that best uses productive artificial intelligence.

With Arçelik’s Developers AI Platform, one of our productive artificial intelligence projects, the productivity of our developers increased by 25%. As a company that sells its products around the world, we use artificial intelligence to translate our product user manuals into more than 50 languages. We position all our friends working at Arçelik as masters and Copilot as apprentices. In the future, apprentices will become masters; We want masters to be masters of masters; this is our dream.”
