Turkey’s January-November Vehicle Sales Data Released

According to the data of the Automotive Distributors Association, the sales of electric and hybrid cars in Turkey have started to rise. Although we do not know exactly when electricity will replace gasoline in Turkey, it seems that the need for charging stations will increase considerably in the near future.

As you know, the world takes a few steps forward every year to leave fossil fuels behind. One of the biggest parts of this is that the automobile industry gives more space to electric models. Sales of electric and hybrid vehicles have increased in many countries, and Turkey is apparently one of them.

According to data from the Automotive Distributors Association (ODD), overall car sales declined year-over-year. However, this was not the case, especially when we looked at electric and hybrid vehicles. Sales of vehicles included in these classes are respectively Increased 325% and 121%.

Around 250,000 charging stations will be required in a few years.

In the first 11 months of 2021, the total market for automobiles and light commercial vehicles in Turkey increased by 1% compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of vehicles sold was 675 thousand 107. While automobile sales decreased by 2.1% with 518 thousand 294 units, light commercial vehicle sales increased by 12.7% with 156 thousand 813 units.

Gasoline cars ranked first in the classification made in terms of fuel, with 342 thousand 438 units in the January-November period. Gasoline vehicles were followed by diesel vehicles with 104 thousand 217 units. Although the amount sold is not very large, the vehicles that stole the show in terms of the increase were hybrid and electric vehicles. Hybrid car sales grew by 121.8% to reach 45,190 units.
