Turkey’s first pocket satellite, Grizu-263A, has been successfully launched!

With the development of our country in recent years, especially in the fields of Defense and Space Industry, and the latest point reached by technology throughout the world, a new satellite is added to the satellites we send into space every day. Today, Grizu-263A, the first pocket satellite of our country and the result of 2 years of development, was successfully launched in the USA with SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.

After the launch, the US Space transportation company SpaceX’s Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket successfully arrived at the designated landing point in the world. However, with the load it transferred out of the atmosphere, the Grizu-263A satellite has not yet reached its final destination. However, it is currently moving towards its target in LEO (Low Earth Orbit) as planned.

Good news from the national observation satellite İmece!

The national observation satellite İmece, developed by the TUBITAK Space Institute, will be ready in the last quarter of 2022.

The Turkish Space Agency said the following in its pre-launch post on social media:

We Are Full of Proud Again This Week at #GökyüzuzunAyirmayanBilgiler! Turkey’s first pocket satellite Grizu-263A is being sent into space today! While witnessing this exciting moment, let’s get to know pocket satellites a little more closely.

Grizu-263A features:

  • He will be able to make ground observations using optical instruments.
  • The gravitational field will be monitored with the precision trajectory determination method.
  • Local measurements of the space environment will be made.
  • Data will be taken from inexpensive reconnaissance instruments around celestial bodies.
  • Production costs are low compared to standard satellites.
  • It can be used in educational activities.
  • It has a large market volume abroad.
