Turkey has surpassed the USA in solar panel production!

The whole world has decided to leave fossil fuels behind. Instead, it will turn to renewable energy sources. Unfortunately, this transformation does not happen in a short time. Likewise, the plans of Europe and the USA are generally made on a 10-year projector. Similarly, Turkey plans to increase the production of solar panels every year until 2030. So how is it now?

Renewable energy breakthrough from Turkey!

Regarding renewable energy, Turkey created its plan with the “Integration of Renewable Energy Resources into the Electricity System”.

Turkey produces 8 thousand MW of solar panels annually!

Turkey is among the top 10 among those who invest in and use solar panels among renewable energy sources worldwide. But when it comes to production, it ranks first in Europe and fourth in the world.

Turkey solar panel production

When we look at the currently installed solar energy panels of all the countries of the world (2021 data), China ranks first with a production of 300 thousand MW. Just behind it is the USA with 95 thousand MW and Japan with 74 thousand MW. Turkey, on the other hand, ranks only 16th. However, it is said that our country has managed to enter the top 10 in this list as of the first quarter of 2022.

Because when we look at the production numbers, the situation becomes a little clearer. Here are the countries that produce the most solar panels:

  • China: 124 thousand MW
  • Vietnam: 14 thousand MW
  • South Korea: 9,200 MW
  • Turkey: 7 thousand 960 MW
  • Malaysia: 7,400 MW
  • USA: 5 thousand 700 MW

In addition, when we look at Turkey’s projection until 2030, it is aimed that all renewable energy sources will reach a level that will meet 70 percent of the need. At this point, 41 GW of solar, 33 GW of wind and 32 GW of hydro-electric energy will be. Other resources will include coal and biomass with 5 GW each, and geothermal energy at 4 GW.

In addition, it is expected that Turkey’s dependence on foreign energy in terms of energy will decrease and come to an end at some point. In addition, the contribution of renewable energies to air cleaning will be very beneficial. In addition, if we can move the panel production, which we are currently in the 4th place in the world, to the 2nd place after China, the export earnings will increase exponentially.
