Dusseldorf Russian Tui major shareholder Alexei Mordashov, who has been on an EU sanctions list since Monday evening because of his proximity to the Kremlin, distances himself from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“What is happening in Ukraine is a tragedy for two brotherly nations. It’s terrible that Ukrainians and Russians are dying, people are suffering and the economy is collapsing,” says a letter from Tuesday night, which is available to the Handelsblatt. He sincerely hopes that a way will be found in the near future to resolve this conflict and end the bloodshed.
