Traffic light coalition does not hold a special session on the heating law

Berlin Actually, a long hanging game should have ended this Friday. According to the plan of the traffic light coalition, the members of the Bundestag should decide on the reform of the Building Energy Act (GEG).

But nothing will come of it now. The highest German court has stopped the planned passage of the amendment to the law for the time being. In the current week of meetings, the GEG may no longer be voted on, according to the interim order from Karlsruhe.

However, there will be no special session before the parliamentary summer break. The traffic light coalition of SPD, Greens and FDP wants to pass the controversial law to switch to climate-friendly heating systems in a regular week of meetings of the Bundestag at the beginning of September, as their parliamentary group leaders announced on Thursday.
