Dusseldorf Management change at Thyssen-Krupp: CEO Martina Merz leaves the group at the end of May. The Essen-based industrial group announced on Monday afternoon that Merz had asked the supervisory board to talk about an amicable termination of their mandate. The personnel committee of the control body wants to comply with the request and hold talks with her.

The announcement of the resignation initially caused the shares of the industrial group to collapse by more than eight percent.

In addition, the Personnel Committee is proposing the current interim boss of the automotive supplier Norma Group, Miguel Angel Lopez Borrego, as his successor in June. He only took over the management at Norma on January 1st of the current year.

Merz has been CEO of Thyssen-Krupp since October 2019. Last year in May her contract was extended until 2028. Borrego also worked at Siemens before joining Norma.
