Berlin The faction of the CDU and CSU is slowly reforming itself. After the first meeting last week, the chairmen of the regional groups will finally discuss the positions to be distributed in the parliamentary group this week. The parliamentary group will then vote on the personnel proposals on Monday.

As the Handelsblatt learned from coalition circles, the regional group leaders, referred to as “carpet dealers”, will propose Thorsten Frei, member of the Bundestag, as the new parliamentary manager. The 48-year-old has so far been the deputy chairman of the parliamentary group and is responsible for the area of ​​law and internal affairs.

Frei would succeed Michael Grosse-Brömer, who wanted to give up the office and had offered himself to be Vice President of the Bundestag. The position, however, then went to the chairwoman of the women in the Union faction, 41-year-old Yvonne Magwas from Saxony. Now the 61-year-old Lower Saxony could get a committee chair.
