Brussels America has produced very different presidents – but a degree of cockiness unites everyone. Even Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Biden would never think of shouting “Make America great again” like his predecessor, but his agenda is similarly immodest. With nothing less than a promise to save democracy – and not just in America, but worldwide.
During the election campaign, Biden had already announced that he would invite the leaders of the democratic world to Washington to pledge them to contain authoritarian forces at home and abroad. In the coming week on December 9th and 10th, the time has come. Whereby: It won’t be a big summit with a red carpet and waving flags. Due to the pandemic, Biden will have to be content with a video conference on his historic mission.
