Frankfurt If you do not want to prepare your tax return yourself, you can get help from an income tax assistance association or a tax advisor. However, many law firms are overburdened due to the increasing complexity of tax law and the lack of staff.
Finding a new accountant can therefore be difficult. And anyone who does too much work as a customer even has to fear termination.
“Things are going haywire in many law firms,” says Michael Wohlfart, who co-founded the management consultancy Kanzleibooster in 2019 and specialized in tax law firms. “The workload is very high, and despite overtime, the backlogs are sometimes getting bigger,” says Wohlfart. In order to be able to work economically, the law firms would have to think very carefully about which clients they look after.
To a certain extent, tax consultants can increase their fees if the workload increases. If that doesn’t help, the only option left in extreme cases is termination.
