Frankfurt David Gitlin leaves no doubt as to where the heater journey is headed. “We are moving away from fossil fuels towards renewable energies,” said the head of the US group Carrier, which is buying the heating division of the German company Viessmann. The federal government initiated this farewell to classic oil and gas heating systems with its compromise on the heating law this week, even if some requirements were softened.
Heat pumps are already mostly installed in new buildings. In existing properties, the share of heat pumps is much lower. Only 9.9 percent of the properties advertised on the real estate portal Immowelt this year heat with heat pumps.
It is definitely worthwhile for owners to convert their existing property, even if they do not want to live in it themselves. Because the price premium for an apartment or a house with a heat pump is clear, shows an Immowelt study that is available to the Handelsblatt in advance. Away from the big cities, this is particularly important.
