Quant (QNT) token price dropped 7.6 percent in a few hours on April 14 due to a hack on the Bitrue (BTR) exchange. Seeing the sudden price drop, the crypto community suspected an attack around 09:00 on April 14. The Bitrue team released an official announcement at 13:00, saying that they noticed “a short-term exploit in one of their hot wallets at 10:18”. The announcement included the following:

We were able to address this issue quickly and prevent further abuse of funds. We take this matter seriously and are currently investigating the situation. The attackers managed to withdraw around $23 million worth of assets in the following currencies: ETH, QNT, GALA, SHIB, HOT and MATIC.

In an attempt to calm the panic, the Bitrue team added that this wallet contains less than 5 percent of Bitrue’s total funds. The announcement reassured the community that all other wallets remained safe. However, it was also stated that the team wanted to double-check all wallets to ensure complete security. In order to do so, the Bitrue team has suspended all withdrawals until April 18. Finally, the announcement stated that “all identified users affected by this incident will be fully compensated.”
