Dusseldorf The price of electricity in Germany currently seems to know no upper limit. Most recently, it rose to 988 euros per megawatt hour – at the beginning of the year it was less than 150 euros. This is a problem for businesses and consumers whose costs are increasing dramatically.

However, there are also companies that benefit directly or indirectly from the high electricity prices. Although their shares have already risen sharply, in some cases the entry can still be worthwhile as a hedge against a further increase in electricity prices – because then further price increases can be expected. Some analysts still see upside potential of up to 30 percent.

The Handelsblatt shows four ways that investors can invest in the relevant shares, what the analysts’ price targets look like, and explains why a fifth way is currently closed.
