Dusseldorf Customers are already moaning about the high prices for numerous products. But experts are convinced: the worst is yet to come. “There are high costs in the supply chains that have not yet arrived in consumer prices,” warns Stefan Benett, Managing Director of Inverto, a purchasing consultancy for companies, in an interview with the Handelsblatt.
The numbers are alarming. A company survey by the Ifo Institute resulted in a value of 47.5 for the barometer of price expectations in August. Every second company is therefore planning price increases in the next three months. For food, the barometer even shows a value of 96.8 points.
