Dusseldorf Henkel is best known to the public for its Persil detergent. In fact, however, the Düsseldorf-based group generates half of its sales and around 60 percent of its profits with adhesives, at EUR 11.2 billion.

A major customer of the Adhesive Technologies division is Apple. With the help of Henkel, semiconductors and printed circuit boards are glued in, which not only hold and protect components, but also dissipate heat and ensure that the smartphones do not overheat.

Apple includes Henkel in its list of key suppliers. It lists more than 180 companies that account for 98 percent of all Apple spend on materials, manufacturing, and assembly. There are four companies from Germany on the list.
