Coaches advise looking inward to find what makes you happy.

Dusseldorf Andreas Steffen’s clients include bankers, founders and managers. They are successful, often high earners – and mostly unhappy. “90 percent of my coaching sessions are one-on-ones with people who say: ‘I’m not happy with my situation,'” says the founder of the Berlin consultancy 5Step.

The dissatisfied are in the majority in Germany. This shows a survey of the career platform Stepstone among 6200 employees in Germany, Great Britain and the USA, which is available to the Handelsblatt. The result: not even a third of Germans enjoy their job. In Great Britain the satisfaction rate is 35 percent, in the USA even 45.7 percent.
