Berlin A first sigh of relief: Gas from Russia is coming again via Nord Stream 1. The Baltic Sea pipeline had been maintained for ten days. So far only 40 percent of the normal amount has been delivered. Previously, there was great concern that Russia would take the maintenance as an opportunity to permanently stop sending gas.

The economy and the markets are now calming down for the time being. In fact, the prospects are good of getting through the winter without production downtime and cold homes, even with the reduced gas volumes.

But relaxation is still the wrong advice, warns Klaus Müller, President of the Federal Network Agency: “In view of the missing 60 percent and the political instability, there is still no reason to give the all-clear.”
