In the evening hours today, an earthquake occurred in Istanbul and the surrounding provinces. According to the first statement made by the Kandilli Observatory, the earthquake was centered in Ayvacık-Dursunbey (Balıkesir). It was also stated that it occurred at 22:31.

According to the announced data, the 4.8-magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 7.2 km at 22:31. As the epicenter, the Ayvacık-Dursunbey region of Balikesir and the location 39°34’47.3″N 28°48’38.5″E were indicated by Kandilli. A statement from the authorities is currently awaited.
