“The vast majority wants heat pumps”

Munich The heating industry has to change almost completely in a short time because the demand for heat pumps has risen sharply in the past year. “In 2021, 70 percent of customers were interested in gas and oil heating. Now it’s exactly the opposite, the vast majority wants heat pumps,” says Tilmann von Schroeter, head of the heating manufacturer Vaillant Deutschland GmbH. Also, in the new year, “more heat pumps will be delivered month by month” – that’s good news for property owners and home builders.

However, manufacturers are still unable to meet demand with this. There are other reasons for this, in addition to the ongoing delivery problems with components, which are delaying production.

Because the switch from the production of conventional gas and oil heating systems to heat pumps is expensive – and there are not yet enough staff for the planning, installation and maintenance.
