Frankfurt At 8:59 a.m. on Thursday morning, the most important update for the second largest cryptocurrency Ethereum 2.0 was completed. “We made it”, announced Vitalik Buterin via Twitter. This is a big moment for the Ethereum ecosystem. Buterin is considered the co-founder and conceptual inventor of Ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency after Bitcoin.
Aya Miyaguchi of the Ethereum Foundation, the foundation that funds the development of the blockchain, also wrote on the short message service: “Ethereum is now a greener and more secure network.”
Despite great nervousness in the run-up, there have apparently been no problems so far: According to Martin Köppelmann from the Gnosis crypto project, there is “amazing stability” after the update. “It really is the best-case scenario,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Today marks a historic step for Ethereum and not least for the crypto world, which can be understood as a U-turn on the way to a CO2-neutral crypto economy,” said crypto analyst Timo Emden from the analysis house of the same name.
