The Sims 5 will officially be free to play!

The Sims 4 was released exactly 9 years ago, in 2014. Its successor, Sims 3, was released in 2009. So there is a period of about 5 years between them. Therefore, we are now very excited about Sims 5, which will be the continuation of the series. Developer EA gave super information about the sequel.

The Sims 5 described as “free to download”

EA has released another of its Behind the Sims videos, and in the video it is confirmed that The Sims 5 (or Project Rene as it is now officially known) will be a free-to-play game as previously leaked and will co-exist with The Sims 4.

First, the news that Project Rene will definitely be free-to-play has been confirmed. For some reason, EA insistently describes this as “free to download” in the video.

Either way, the point is that no base game purchase will be required. EA also emphasizes that there will be no subscriptions and “energy mechanics”. Thus, at least a mobile game-like monetization mechanism is eliminated.

When will The Sims 5 be released? The popular simulation game will be talked about a lot with its much more advanced characters and graphics.

As for what a new mainstream Sims game designed from the ground up for free might look like, a Project Rene job posting hastily removed from EA’s website earlier this year featured official and user-generated content (both free and paid) was referring to an in-game market containing There’s something else that EA has now more or less confirmed.

Project Rene certainly won’t start with everything you have in The Sims 4, but will add new experiences and content over time, EA says. The idea is that core features like weather will be free for everyone in the base game, and these could then be enhanced with paid content packs.

EA explains what they want to do in Sims 5 as follows: “It’s a little early to know exactly where to draw the lines, but it’s important for us to lower barriers to play and offer the broadest common systems to everyone because that feels like the best foundation for growth.”

Regardless of Project Rene’s approach, EA says The Sims 4 and various Sims mobile games will continue to exist alongside the new game and receive new content in the near future.
