According to a controversial new report from Asia, Apple’s New generation 12.9 inch iPad Pro OLED instead of using panel technology LCD will return to the screen. This report, which emerged while waiting for a new generation OLED technology, cast doubt on many of those waiting for the iPad Pro.
Will the 12.9 inch iPad Pro use an LCD panel?
It has been widely reported that Apple’s next iPad Pro models will be the first Apple tablets to introduce premium OLED panels, and rumors have suggested that these models will begin shipping in the middle of next year. According to a confusing new DigiTimes report, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
The Taiwan-based institution now claims that Apple will return to using LCD backlighting for the upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro model, bringing this model to the same level as the current 11-inch model. The current 12.9-inch iPad Pro has a mini-LED display that Apple calls a “Liquid Retina XDR display,” while the 11-inch model uses a lower-quality LCD-based “Liquid Retina Display.”
The report claims that the high production cost of using mini LED backlights on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is “a barrier to broader industry adoption” and that Apple’s return to traditional backlight technology “may be due to the company’s focus on the technology.”

A 12.9 inch version may be being developed for iPad Air. Apple, which wants to increase the competition between Pro and Air, will attract attention with the price.
As a result of the component changes, it is rumored that production of the new 12.9-inch iPads, while originally planned to start in “early November,” may be delayed to “early 2024.” The next 12.9-inch iPad Pro’s switch from mini LED to traditional LCD panel technology would be considered a major setback for Apple’s flagship tablet, especially considering that OLED display technology is perhaps behind us.
Of course, the accuracy of this claim is not certain, but while the biggest upgrade in the new iPad models is expected to be the screen technology, it is obvious that many users will be reacted to if such a regression occurs.
