Frankfurt So far it’s just a declaration of intent. In the case of the CO2 tax for heating emissions, the additional costs between tenants and landlords are to be redistributed – and “fairly” at that – the new federal government promised when it started in the autumn.

Until now, tenants have had to bear the costs of the CO2 price alone. From January 1, 2021, heating with oil and gas will incur carbon dioxide emission costs. This price has risen to 30 euros per tonne emitted this year.

A compromise is now emerging in the traffic light coalition: the Economics Ministry has internally defined the cornerstones of a reform.

Daniel Föst, construction policy spokesman for the FPD parliamentary group, emphasizes that a new distribution model should be in place by the summer.
