Good news for Minecraft players who own Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Thanks to the upcoming Minecraft Preview 1.20.60.23 update, the game will run in 4K resolution. And it doesn’t end there.
Minecraft will play 60 FPS on Xbox consoles
This enhancement is set to elevate Minecraft’s visual experience for players on the latest Xbox consoles by providing sharper and more detailed gameplay. The update will not support Xbox One S and X.
Despite the excitement around the 4K upgrade, it’s worth noting that this update doesn’t bring overall performance improvements to Xbox Series X|S. Loading times, high frame rates, and other metrics were unaffected.
The lack of comprehensive performance upgrades is attributed to the development team prioritizing other considerations that may have to do with managing multiple versions of Minecraft on various platforms.
The decision to implement the 4K 60 FPS update may also be strategic, considering the expected mid-generation upgrade for the Xbox Series that Microsoft accidentally leaked. Preparing Minecraft for future hardware improvements, including a potential increase in base resolution requirements, seems in line with the forward-looking approach the game’s developers are taking.
In addition to the resolution upgrade, Mojang responded to the results of the Minecraft Live 2023 Live Mob Voting by introducing Armadillos as the next live mob. These friendly creatures exhibit unique behaviors such as rolling into a ball and consuming spider eyes when threatened.
Players can collect chips, which are parts of the Armadillo armor, by brushing creatures. These chips can be used to craft armor for other pets, especially Wolves, providing an additional layer of protection.
