President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, announced the meeting decisions after today’s Council of Ministers meeting. Among the decisions, he also mentioned the phone, tablet and computer support to be given to students, as well as internet support, the communication tool that students need most.
In his statement after the meeting, President Erdoğan said: It was announced that up to 5500 TL support will be provided for devices up to the 9500 TL price limit for students receiving formal education. In addition, it was also stated that 10 GB monthly internet support will be provided to students for 12 months, with the agreement of 3 major operators over their “own lines”.

After the cabinet meeting held today, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave the good news of tax-free phones and computers.
The full statement made by President Erdoğan is as follows:
“We are implementing the mobile phone and computer support we promised to university students in formal education. We will provide technological device support up to 5 thousand 500 lira to our university students for mobile phones and computers whose market sales price does not exceed 9 thousand 500 lira.
With this support, we will provide support up to 44.4 percent of the market price for mobile phones and 16.7 percent of the market price for computers. We also define a free 10 GB monthly quota for our university students in formal education for 12 months, limited to 1 line. Our young people will be able to use these rights through one of the three mobile network operators they want.
We will increase our university students’ access to technology and information with both technological device support and free 10 GB quota support. The implementation principles for both supports will be determined by our ministries. We do not forget all our young people who turn 18. We will give these young people a youth card, valid for 1 year. “All our young people who have this card will be able to benefit from cultural and artistic events such as museums, theaters and cinemas for free or at a discount.”
