Dusseldorf Actually, young people are known for their optimism. However, inflation, energy shortages, fears of recession and Russia’s war of aggression in the Ukraine are making most 13 to 26-year-olds in this country look to the future more negatively than they have in a long time. This is suggested by a study by the analysis company Prognos on behalf of R+V Versicherungen, which is available exclusively to the Handelsblatt.

According to this, more than two-thirds of the so-called Generation Z look gloomy at the coming years for society. This is a negative record. For comparison: In 2019, according to the Shell youth study, more than 50 percent hoped for a better future.

For the current Prognos evaluation, 1,000 people from Generation Z in Germany were surveyed, i.e. the group of people aged 13 to 26 today. There were also another 1,000 “baby boomers” (today: 52 to 66 years). 63 percent of you also have a negative view of the future of our society.
