Beijing The Chinese calendar is the year of the tiger. That sounds promising at first, but it cannot hide the fact that this year, like last year, will be a difficult one.

Real estate crisis, tech crisis, Covid crisis – China has without a doubt experienced one of the most turbulent years in its recent history. This year the People’s Republic needs one thing above all else: “Stability”.

That was the most important message after the three-day meeting of the Central Labor Conference on the Economy (CEWC), which was attended by State and Party Leader Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang at the beginning of December. The CEWC sets the priorities for the economy in the coming year.

“The economy will be confronted with many problems and challenges in the next year, which have to be mastered and coordinated and solved in good time,” said the official report on the meeting.
