Berlin In view of the spreading Omikron variant, the federal and state governments are planning extensive contact restrictions after Christmas for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. This emerges from a draft resolution for the Prime Minister’s Conference on Tuesday, which is available to the Handelsblatt. At the meeting, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and North Rhine-Westphalia’s Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) as chairman of the Prime Minister’s Conference had agreed on Sunday evening.

“In order to slow down the new wave with the Omikron variant, further restrictions on the contacts are necessary for vaccinated and convalescents,” says the draft.

From December 28th, private get-togethers for vaccinated and convalescents should be held only be allowed with a maximum of ten people. “As soon as an unvaccinated person takes part in a meeting, the contact restrictions for unvaccinated people apply: The meeting is therefore limited to your own household and a maximum of two people from another household.”
