Have you ever been spending time with your friends and given the job of turning on music to someone from the band and instantly regretted it? If this is the case, you are not alone. Many people around the world, including me, are victims of this problem. Fortunately, with its new feature, Spotify removes the control of playlists from a single person and provides a permanent solution to this problem. Here comes Spotify Jam…
Spotify Jam: The new way to listen to music with your friends
Spotify, the world’s most popular music listening platform, continues to gain new features. The last feature the company offered to users was Jam. Spotify Jam is a new feature where a group of people can listen to music together, and it’s here to make listening to music with friends better than ever.
Thanks to Spotify Jam, Premium users will be able to invite others to contribute by entering a shared song queue, and everyone listening at that time will enjoy a tailor-made music experience. In fact, you can think of this as a WhatsApp group that exists to listen to music.
To start the Jam, a Premium user selects a playlist, song, or album. Next, you will see the “Start Jam” button by clicking the Connect button at the bottom of your screen or entering the menu that opens when you click on the three dots on your favorite playlist, favorite album or song.
You can choose a device to play songs; This could be your phone or your speaker. Others using your shared Wi-Fi connection at home will be able to join the Jam instantly if they want to join. You can then invite your friends (who can be Premium or Free users) using one of three methods:
Everyone in the Jam can add songs to the queue from their own device, see who added which song, and get suggestions.
The user who owns the Jam session can also determine who is in the Jam, change the order of the songs, or remove a song from the queue if they feel it does not fit the mood.
The host of the jam session can also turn on “Guest controls” to allow anyone else in the session to change the order of tracks or remove that track from the queue. When “Guest controls” is turned off, only the owner of the Jam session can rearrange songs in the playing queue.
As of today, Jam is available for all Premium and Free Spotify users worldwide. Note that your app must be up to date to experience the Jam.
