Starlink systems, built by Elon Musk’s space transportation company SpaceX to provide satellite internet access, have started to become active in many countries. Following the rumors about whether this technology will be available in our country in the near future, BTK clarified the issue with the Workshop on Broadband Internet Service Delivery over Low Orbit Satellites.

The Starlink project has started to receive deposit payments from applicants in countries where it is currently active and plans to serve in the coming days. But it is not yet clear whether these systems will receive official approval.
Exactly for this reason, it was said that this issue was also discussed at the technology workshop organized by the BTK today. Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan shared the situation reached so far with his post on Twitter.
He also stated that before this project, which has not yet been given the green light by our government, the citizens may be victimized in transactions such as pre-registration or purchase by paying a fee, therefore the decision should be waited. In his statement, he said:
Today we held a workshop on an exciting new technology for the future at BTK. Together with our sector representatives, we evaluated low orbit communication satellite systems and consulted on the road map we will follow for our country.
We are closely interested in high-speed, low-latency and ubiquitous internet services in orbit. At this point, satellites positioned in orbits about 200-2000 km from our world are expected to fill an important gap in this area.
We are talking about a very new service. It has started to be used gradually in some countries, especially in recent years, and in some countries it is in the trial phase. In our country, the demands for the marketing of the service bring along the regulatory needs.
Before starting to use these systems in our country; There are many factors such as our national security, the rights of our citizens and the protection of existing national satellite systems. Considering all this information, we continue to work on the issue.
We carry out all necessary steps for the benefit of our industry and our citizens under the coordination of our Ministry and BTK. I would like to give an important warning to our institutions and citizens who want to receive broadband internet service via orbital satellites.
For the services that some companies plan to offer; They accept payment under names such as pre-demand, pre-order. Our citizens, who pay with the information on the websites of these companies, ask questions about when the service will be offered in our country.
Companies that provide electronic communication services in our country are published on the official website of the BTK. At the end of the necessary regulations, companies that meet the conditions will be announced on our website, if deemed appropriate, and will only be able to serve in this way.
For this reason, it is important for our citizens to approach the issue with caution in order not to experience any grievances. As a state; Our work continues rapidly in a way that will protect the interests of our sector and our citizens.
