The end point of AirTag has started to worry people

AirTag, the lost and found device that Apple introduced at the Spring Loaded event last year, is a very useful product in terms of its initial purpose. This device, which can detect the exact location of any object thanks to its UWB chip, is unfortunately also used for different purposes such as human tracking.

Thanks to AirTag, a stolen car has been found!

An Apple user managed to find his stolen car thanks to the AirTag he used. The police detained the criminal.

Speakerless AirTag sales started on online sales platforms

As it is known, AirTag emits a secure Bluetooth signal in the Find My network that can be detected by nearby devices. These devices are sending the AirTag’s location to iCloud. In this way, the location of the AirTag tracked through the Find application can be seen on the map.

This device, which can be easily stored anywhere due to its coin size, was used to track people at some points, but Apple made a sudden decision and released a new update in June of last year.

With this update, AirTag can be accessed from the connected phone. 8 to 24 hours It started to beep for 15 seconds several times an hour to warn the people around it. Of course, it did this with the built-in speaker. On the other hand, it was automatically updated as soon as it approached the iPhone it was connected to.

In this way, while there has been a serious decrease in the number of events such as human tracking with AirTag, recently, “silent” AirTag devices, which have been modified and whose internal speaker has been removed, have started to be sold on online sales platforms such as Etsy and eBay. It is also worth noting that the sales are made by third parties and have absolutely nothing to do with Apple.

Since the speakerless AirTag, which is sold for almost three times the price announced by Apple, cannot make a “beep” sound, it will be able to follow the determined target for hours without warning.

So what do you think about this subject? How do you think it can be prevented that loss-finding devices such as AirTag are used for malicious purposes such as human tracking? Do not forget to share your views with us in the comments section.
