Since Turkey has made great progress in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles, SİHAs and ammunition specially developed for them have been taken into consideration. However, Roketsan continues to work on many different types of missiles. The ballistic missile named Tayfun, which was developed in a secluded manner in this direction, made its first fire today.

We shared the new missiles produced by Roketsan and their features with the statements made by the President of Defense Industry in the past months. Of course, we also included the features of Atmaca, Bora and Yıldırım missiles, which were tested in 2021 and 2022, some of which are currently on duty and some of them will be included in the inventory in the coming period.
But what we see today is very different from the previous ones. Developed with great secrecy by Roketsan, the domestic short-range ballistic missile named Tayfun has successfully completed its first fire test. It hit its target 561 kilometers away, reaching a speed of 4,428 km/h in just 458 seconds.

Last July, the US Senate brought a condition for the sale of F-16s to Turkey. However, the relevant articles have been removed as of today.
According to NOTAM data, we see that it has risen to an altitude of 90+ km from the ground in this process. In other words, while cruising at the edge of space, he directed his target and made a successful hit. Of course, its range is much higher than the target hit today. According to the information that has not been clarified yet, it can perform effective tasks up to 800 km.
Of course, the range of other ready-to-service missiles increases considerably with the 2nd and 3rd blocks. For example, the Bora missile has a range of close to 300 km. The Lightning missile, on the other hand, has 3 different versions with a range of 150, 300 and 900 km. We even know that Blok-IV with a range of 2,500 km is under development. But for now, Tayfun is everyone’s favorite.
