The Day Before Developer Fntastic Announces It’s Closing

Zombie-themed post-apocalyptic open world game The Day Before, was first announced in 2021. The game, which was originally planned to be released in 2022, was released on December 7, 2023, after several postponements. However, the game, which has been the subject of controversy since the day it was announced and turned into a snake story, was not liked at all and entered the list of Steam’s worst games.

While criticism continues to come to the game, developer Fntastic made an unexpected surprise statement today. The company announced that it was closing 4 days after The Day Before was released.

Fntastic announced its closure with this statement:

“Today we are announcing the closure of Fntastic studio. The Day Before failed financially and we don’t have the resources to continue. All our income is used to pay our debts to our partners.

We invested all our effort, resources and man hours into the development of our first major game, The Day Before. We really wanted to release new updates to show the full potential of the game, but unfortunately we do not have enough funding to continue working.

We would like to underline that we received no money from the public during the development of The Day Before. We did not do a pre-order or crowdfunding campaign. We worked tirelessly for five years, shedding our blood, sweat and tears for the game.

Right now The Day Before and Propnight’s future is uncertain, but servers will remain up and running.

We apologize if we did not meet your expectations. We did everything in our power, but we miscalculated our capabilities. Game development is a very challenging endeavor.
