The car chip business is about to boom

European semiconductor manufacturers are benefiting particularly from the boom in auto chips.

Munich Out of the niche: The auto chip business will develop significantly more dynamically in the next few years than the semiconductor market as a whole. In a study published on Wednesday, consulting firm McKinsey predicts that sales will increase by up to 15 percent every year up to 2030. For comparison: According to the experts, the entire chip industry will grow by a maximum of eight percent per year.

With Infineon, NXP, STMicroelectronics and Bosch, four of the world’s leading car chip producers come from Europe. The continent will therefore benefit disproportionately from the trend.

This is reflected in the growth expectations of the manufacturers: The Dax group Infineon, the number one in auto chips worldwide, promises an annual increase in sales over an industry cycle of nine percent and more.
